Apiro is a charming village perched on a hill at the foot of Mount San Vicino in the province of Macerata. The town is home to over 2,000 residents.
While cycling through the streets of Apiro, we had the opportunity to exchange a few words with some of the locals. They are simple people with kind hearts who warmly welcome every "stranger" who arrives in this place, especially if you arrive on a bicycle.
Once we set off on our bikes from Apiro, our only thought was to enjoy the breathtaking scenery of the village, surrounded by flowers, hills, and mountains. Among all the views, Mount San Vicino stands out prominently and is easily reached from the village, making it a sought-after destination. As we descended, we made our way towards the turquoise waters of Lake Castriccioni, a rugged lake that hides wonders behind every curve of its shoreline.
Pedaling towards Moscosi, the landscape was truly unique, with mountains and hills competing for space alongside the lake. And there it was, right in front of us, Mount San Vicino, accompanying us on our every ride. A beautiful dirt road helped us get back to the lake, where we found ourselves once again at the foot of the hill that guided us back to the castle walls of Apiro.
