This route captures the true essence of the Fano area, linking the Adriatic coast with the gentle inland hills on a journey through stunning landscapes, historic towns and picturesque villages.
Starting in Fano, the route follows quiet country roads through the beautiful landscapes of Cartoceto, renowned for its PDO extra virgin olive oil, Mombaroccio, with its charming medieval village, Colli al Metauro, nestled in the valley shaped by the historic River Metauro, and Fossombrone, a town rich in Roman and Renaissance heritage. The journey then continues to San Costanzo and Mondolfo, two delightful hilltop villages overlooking the Adriatic Sea, offering breathtaking coastal views.
Rolling hills, vineyards, olive groves, historic villages and peaceful rural roads create an ever-changing landscape, allowing cyclists to experience the authentic character of this remarkable corner of the Marche region.
From Mondolfo, the route descends to Marotta, where it joins the Adriatic Cycle Route. From here, the return journey to Fano follows the coastline along a pleasant, mostly flat cycle route, with uninterrupted views of the Adriatic Sea, beaches and lively seafront promenades. It is the perfect way to end an unforgettable ride that combines the beauty of the coast with the charm of the rolling hills surrounding Fano.
