A cycling route of around 26 km through the territory of Colli al Metauro, with Montemaggiore al Metauro as its main point of reference, winding through rolling hills, open countryside and small villages set in the Marche landscape.
The route runs mainly along asphalted roads and quiet secondary roads, with a few short sections on compact gravel and mixed surfaces. From the flatter areas of the Metauro valley, the route gradually climbs into the hills, passing cultivated fields, small settlements and peaceful country roads with wide views across the surrounding landscape.
One of the highlights of the itinerary is Montemaggiore al Metauro, a panoramic village closely linked to an important episode of the Second World War. Here you can visit the Winston Churchill Historical and Environmental Museum of the Metauro River, housed in the former Church of Santa Maria del Soccorso. The museum preserves photographs, documents, memorabilia and accounts connected with Churchill’s visit to the area and the events surrounding the Gothic Line in the summer of 1944.
The central section of the route alternates climbs and descents, passing through or close to places such as Cerasa, Piagge and Villanova, in a rural landscape that invites you to slow down and enjoy the surroundings.
It is an ideal itinerary for anyone wishing to discover Colli al Metauro by bike, combining nature, landscape and local history, with a stop in Montemaggiore adding an important cultural dimension to the ride.
