Falerone is a small town with a fascinating history dating back to the Augustan era. It was an important center until the 4th century AD. Its coat of arms, depicting medieval armor, recalls the local rule by Saxon feudal lords, heirs to a warlike people dedicated to warfare, who established their dominion over 30 castles in the mid-upper Tenna Valley, making Falerone their capital.
Within the coat of arms appears a Samnite shield with a red band on a blue background and the inscription S.P.Q.F., reminiscent of the greatness and splendor of the Roman city of Falerio Picenus, founded in this municipality in 29 BC and no less important than the neighboring city of Fermo.
Our cycling journey will take us through a magnificent landscape where history and nature continue to amaze visitors with their beauty. We will follow the road that gently descends from Falerone to Monte Vidon Corrado before heading downhill to the Tenna River. From there, our destination is the charming Old Town of Belmonte Piceno, beloved by cycling enthusiasts, before descending further to Servigliano, known as the "City of Memory" due to the prisoner-of-war camp built here in 1915, which now houses a museum.
After an interesting visit, we will resume our ride, passing by the Roman Theater of Falerone and crossing some small abbeys dating back to the Lombard period. A few more kilometers of ascent, and we will be back in Falerone, concluding our captivating and historic cycling adventure
