On the road from Petriolo to Mogliano, not far from the Church of Madonna dei Prati (better known as Madonna delle Grazie) flows a sulfur water spring called Fonte Murola. Known since at least the 16th century, the water is channeled through a fountain. Local farmers say that the community used sulfur water to wash themselves and treat skin irritations. Some reckless ones even drank it! Notably, the spring was also used as a spa in the past, thanks to the miraculous properties of its water. During the 19th century, priest Gaspare Latini analyzed it and published its therapeutic effects, which also sparked interest in the medical sector. A sample of these sulfur waters was even brought to the Exhibitions of Florence and London, respectively in 1881 and 1882.
