Just 5 kilometers from Tolentino's historic center is located the Oasis of wildlife protection 'Le Grazie', of great naturalistic impact. The name comes from a small church dedicated to Santa Maria delle Grazie, to which the community has always been deeply devoted. The oasis was created after the installation of a barrage on River Chienti, and it is mostly occupied by the artificial Lake 'Le Grazie'. The Lake is also surrounded by other wetlands and swamps that recreate many protected habitats. Cyclists can take several routes in this area: whether you want to get lost in the local vegetation or spend your time birdwatching (watch out for herons, ducks and cormorants, especially in winter), this is the place for you. The oasis is also home to older species of trees, characterized by their green and red peaks.
