Welcome to
Montefano

The village...
Nestled on the top of a hill between the Fiumicello and Monocchia streams, in a splendid panoramic position, Montefano is a small town which has been known since the 12th century. Birthplace of Marcello Cervini (6 May 1501), who later became Pope Marcellus II, Montefano will amaze you with its splendid views that range from the hills to the sea, with its beautiful historical monuments, the Churches, the Cloisters, the flower-filled streets that they wind silently, skirting houses and walls. You will be able to admire the old Municipal Palace, surmounted by the Civic Tower, which incorporates the "La Rondinella" Theatre, a wonderful work by the architect Virginio Tombolini, a delightful jewel from the late 19th century. Next to it, the Collegiate Church of San Donato overlooks Piazza Bracaccini and from here you set off to discover a small universe, rich in history and beauty. Don't forget to visit the Ghergo Museum, a permanent exhibition space dedicated to the great photographer from Montefano, an admirable portraitist of the stars of the Roman Dolce Vita. A relaxing walk, which you can enrich with delicious tastings of our typical products and our wines, a complete and perfect experience.

The best...

TEATRO LA RONDINELLA
The "La Rondinella" Theater is a classic example of the "Favor Theatre", typical of small towns in the Marche region. It was built towards the end of the 1700s as a response to the growing interest in opera on the part of the people of Montefano. At the end of the 19th century it was redesigned anticipating the Art Nouveau style.
