The Sanctuary-Museum of San Nicola collects the treasure preserved and accumulated in the Basilica of San Nicola in Tolentino over time, often result of spontaneous donations from pilgrims. Today it is located in Tolentino's historic centre and comprises several rooms, with works of art by 15th-century painter Marquisiano di Giorgio, furnishings, handicrafts, votive offerings and ceramics dating from the 5th to the 12th century. Notably, the most valuable pieces are the reliquary containing the bandages soaked in the blood of Saint Nicholas and the wooden Nativity. The latter is a 14th-century sculptural group of three statues representing the Madonna, the Child and Saint Joseph; it probably belonged to a traditional nativity scene of the region.
