Formerly known as Church of Santa Maria degli Angeli, the Church of Madonna delle Grazie is located on the road that connects Petriolo to Mogliano. The exact date of its construction is not known: its first nucleus was built in the second half of the 16th century, contrary to popular belief regarding the existence of an older votive niche with a fresco of the Virgin near the area. The local community used to pray the holy image to obtain graces that, each time, were granted. The votive image initiated an outright pilgrimage: every Sunday, local processions were organized by the Confraternities of Mercy and the Blessed Sacrament of Petriolo. This led to an expansion of the building in 1636 that was completed over 30 years later, with the full support of the community. The original fresco was also restored by an unknown painter.
