Porta di Levante is the original access point to the old town of Mogliano. Dating back to the 14th century, the structure is appreciated for its pointed arch, characterized by esoteric symbols that, according to some, trace the passage of the Knights Templar. On the facade you can observe the recesses that originally hosted the coats of arms of Mogliano's prominent families. They were stolen by Napoleon's soldiers during the Battle of Tolentino in 1797. The Church of Santa Maria in Pede Castri is not too far from it and other remarkable sites of the city, such as Piazza Garibaldi and the MASM (Museum of Sacred Art Mogliano). It is a standout for the local cultural heritage that also exhibits works influenced by Raffaello. Moreover, the Church of Santa Maria di Piazza preserves the Madonna in Gloria e Santi by Lorenzo Lotto (1548).
