Several expressions of Marche's historical and sacred traditions can be found in Mogliano, a lovely village nestled among the olive trees of 'Piantone di Mogliano'. Among the most representative places of local religious devotion, the Complesso di Santa Colomba - a Franciscan building where some chapters of the 'Little Flowers of St. Francis' were written - and the Church of Santa Maria di Piazza, in Piazza Garibaldi, are worthy of mention. The latter originates from the oratory of Madonna della Misericordia, built in 1420 by the community of Mogliano following an epidemic of plague. In the 16th century, the Church was flanked by a new, single-nave church, enlarged in the second half of the 18th century by architects Giambattista and Antonio Rusca from Lugano. The painting 'Madonna in Gloria' by Lorenzo Lotto (1548), is preserved inside the church. Next to the church is the MASM - Museum of Sacred Art of Mogliano, inaugurated in 1929 and managed by the Municipality since 2016. The collection gathers artworks from local churches, so as to document the 'liveliness' of its community.
