In Mogliano, culture manifests itself through local craftsmanship and culinary tradition. Many dishes in Mogliano see the oil 'Piantone di Mogliano', extracted from olive trees native of this area, as the star of the recipe. Renowned is also the local 'porchetta' that uses a completely different recipe compared to others produced in the Macerata area. Moreover, the 'pristinco', the typical Christmas dessert, is made with figs, flour and dried fruit. In Mogliano, the art of wicker weaving is also extremely important, a symbol of the city's peasant tradition of the 19th century. Today, the use of reed and wicker is combined with new, organic and sustainable materials to create new products, oriented to current designs yet always looking at traditional techniques and concepts. Cyclists who want to 'intertwine' with Mogliano's values, know-how and tradition can visit 'CARTECA - Scuola di intreccio', established in 2014 by the extremely experienced artisans of the area. The school is in Piazza Garibaldi, in the historic center of the town. Artisans will show the materials and techniques used to work with wicker, leather and other fibers and, by reservation only, you can book a customized experience.
